How to Measure Yourself for a Great Fit

You’ll look your best when your suit or separates fit like they were tailored just for you. Our clothes are designed with a slim, modern cut and fit. Measure yourself and refer to the sizing charts for the most accurate size. We’ll tell you how below.

HOW TO SPOT A QUALITY SUIT

Once you’ve determined your measurements, compare them to our size chart and select your appropriate size. If your measurements don’t align perfectly with the size chart, round up, always choosing the larger (or longer) size.

Here’s How to Measure:

Use a FABRIC tape measure to get the most accurate measurements. As you measure, keep the measuring tape snug but not tight, and make sure it doesn’t get twisted, especially when wrapping it around the back of your body.

When selecting your size based on your measurements, we suggest:

Jackets: Refer to sizing chart below.

Pants: Order one size larger if you measured into a waist size 28 through 38.
Order two sizes larger if you measured into a waist size 40 or 42.

Inseams: Order by your measurement.

Chest: If you have a friend who’s willing to help, ask them to wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your bare chest, just under your armpits, as you stand straight with your arms resting comfortably at your sides (don’t hold your breath). Tell them to make sure the tape measure wraps straight across your shoulder blades in back.

You can also do this measure yourself, checking the tape measure placement across your back with a mirror.

Men’s Pants

Waist: Dress pants are typically worn a little higher at the waist than jeans, so don’t go by your jeans size when ordering. Instead, take a quick measure of your waist by wrapping the tape measure around your bare waist just above the top of your hipbones.

Inseam: The inseam is the length of the inner leg of your pants. You can determine this measure by either measuring a pair of pants that fit you well or asking a friend to help you measure yourself.

If you’re measuring another pair of pants, make sure they are zipped and secured at the top. Lay them sideways (one leg on top of the other, with the outer seam on top) on a flat surface, smoothing out any wrinkles so that they are flat. Lift the top pant leg out of the way while you measure the inner seam of the other leg, from the crotch to the bottom of the leg. This is your inseam measure.

Before you order this inseam length, think about whether you will be wearing the same height of shoe with your new pants as you do with those you just measured. Adjust the inseam measurement accordingly.

If you’re measuring your body, wear a pair of close-fitting (not baggy) shorts or pants and stand up straight while your friend uses the measuring tape to measure your inner leg from just below your groin to the bottom of your ankle or wherever you want the bottom hem of your pants to fall.

If you’ll be wearing shoes with any height, you may want to add a bit of length to your inseam measurement.

Bust: Wrap the tape measure around your bust at its fullest part.

Waist: Measure the circumference of your bare waist at your natural waistline, the area between your belly button and rib cage. If you’re not sure where your natural waistline is, bend to the side and note where the crease forms. Stand back up straight and measure around your waist at that spot.

After determining the size correlated with your measurements, we suggest ordering one size larger.

Hip: You will get the most accurate measurement of your hips by standing in front of a full-length mirror, in underwear only, with your feet together. Look for the widest part of your hips, and wrap the measuring tape around your body at that spot.

After determining the size correlated with your measurements, we suggest ordering one size larger.
